Celebrating the Legacies of Local Craftsmanship

Crafts on Peel is a non-profit creative hub dedicated to reviving and perpetuating traditional artisan techniques. For their thematic exhibition, “Stories Encapsulated: Wood,” the objective was to reawaken public appreciation for a heritage art form slowly fading from the contemporary imagination. Rather than relying on literal visual tropes, the exhibition's identity was rooted in the structural poetry of carpentry.

By translating the mechanics of traditional tenon and mortise joints into a modern typographic and editorial system, the design language served as a metaphor for the collaborative spirit of the makers. Spanning the initial key visual concept through to the management of highly tactile print production, the resulting experience grounded the untold stories of local craftsmen in organic materiality, seamlessly bridging the gap between historical woodwork and a modern cultural audience.
